In SCADA systems, each tag represents memory, processing, and cost. Large projects with many tags can become heavy, costly, and harder to manage.
Inspired by an idea from my coach, Carlos Bou Gerges, I used ADISRA (Aware, Diverse, Integrated, Self-Regulated, Adaptive) built-in functions to read and write individual bits of a single 16-bit integer. This allows us to store multiple Boolean states in just one integer tag—no custom code required!
𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞:I chose 16 Boolean states because one integer tag in ADISRA is 16 bits, so each bit perfectly represents one Boolean state.
Normally, this would require 16 separate Boolean tags.
Using the integer, all 16 states are packed into a single tag, and each bit can be read or set anytime with the built-in functions.
• Primary and backup pumps to manage water transfer
• Adjustable high/low level sensors — the system prevents invalid or illogical inputs, either by showing an error or reverting to default values
• Real-time simulation showing water levels and pump responses
• Multiple SCADA pages, including:
• Alarm page for events & alerts
• Trend page to monitor water level changes over time
• Navigation tabs to switch between tanks
• Pump switch button to toggle between pumps
• Custom tank templates to avoid repetition and streamline development
